Castle of Salobreña

Located on top of a huge rock is the Castle of Salobreña, an imposing Arab castle totally strategic for the defence of the city.


Due to the great height where is located, it is possible to see the crag, the sea, the city of Salobreña and if the day is clear, it is possible to see the African continent.


The purpose of this castle was not only defensive, as the interior was built to be a prison for the Moor nobility of the time. 


According to historical chronicles, several Arab monarchs were imprisoned within the prison walls such as: Muhammad VIII, Abu Nasr Sad and Yusuf III.
